"What the hand does the mind remembers" - Maria Montessori
Our wooden number boards are the perfect hands-on resource for your little ones. Your child can begin to recognize and learn numbers 0 - 9 carefully tracing them with their finger or using the tracing stick. We have designed our boards to be reversible and on the back we have a ten frame. A ten frame is a great visual to help your child develop their counting skills, 1:1 number correspondence and place value. Our resources are based on the Montessori self-directed, hands-on approach to learning. Using our number boards children will build up muscle memory in their hands for when they are ready to put pen to paper. By holding the tracing stick it will help them to develop their pencil grip.
Handmade Our number tracing boards are made from solid beech wood which has been planed to be completely smooth. This means that your child can handle their number board without any worry of getting splinters from the wood. Our boards are then coated in a natural beeswax oil to help protect the wood. The wooden tracing stick is made from beech dowel and is designed to be similar to that of a pencil to help your child develop their pencil grip.
Dimensions Our wooden number boards are 50cm long and 11.5cm wide
The beech wood dowel is always 10cm long
Activities There are many activities that you can do with your child to help them recognize numbers 0-0.They can count and fill each number as they go with different tactile resources like beads, stones, flowers etc. They can start to recognize odd and even numbers and find different ways of making one number. With the ten frame on the back children can practice their counting skills and 1:1 correspondence. Give them a number and get them to count objects to match placing them carefully in each square will help them understand the value of that number. Its also a fantastic visual for them to reference when they think of a number.
